ASSISTANT CHIEF ENGINEER - M.E.P OPERATIONS

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Chief Engineer is to manage operations for the Engineering department. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Have an intimate knowledge on all major systems.
  • Review all projects and bids to ascertain any legal and/or guest service impact on the property.
  • Maintain twenty four hour availability to coordinate emergency actions (fire, power outages, floods).
  • Maintain all operating permits required for facility operation.
  • Work with other departments in project coordination to minimize guest disruption.
  • Coordinate set up and schedule all associated permits, power, and communications for entertainment venues.
  • Manage team member relations issues and administer progressive discipline in accordance with The Venetian Resort guidelines.
  • Enforce safety programs and training.
  • Monitor and motivate team members to increase productivity and efficiencies.
  • Find new and innovative solutions to challenges.
  • Review and approve purchase requests, flex forms, and payroll.
  • Manage assigned operational functions within the department consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department, the division and The Venetian Resort.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor fiscal budget, operations of assigned department(s) and marketing strategies to produce both short term and long term profitability for The Venetian Resort.
  • Manage the delivery and measurement of guest service within assigned department(s) consistent with the company’s core service standards and brand attributes.
  • Provide input into the research, development, evaluation and implementation of new products, services, technology and processes to ensure The Venetian Resort’s competitive position and in anticipation of changing customer needs within the dynamic hospitality and gaming environment.
  • Manage responsibilities for the department to include: hiring of new Team Members, promotions, creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, discipline, recognition, and termination. 
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • 10 years of experience in facilities management.
  • 5 years of experience in a four or five star casino or hospitality environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
