LEAD ENGINEER - ENGINEERING

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Lead Engineer - Engineering is to conduct general maintenance as well as direct the work of others.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  •   Have full knowledge of the Manager’s job duties and functions.
     Act as Manager on the Manager’s days off or whenever the Manager is not available.
  • Assist and support the Manager in the planning of special projects and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Assist shop Engineers whenever needed.
  • Assist Engineering department wherever needed to promote the safety and well-being of the guests/Team members and to protect the facility as directed by your supervisor.
  • Maintain shop MSDS book.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.

  • Maintain, repair, modify and enhance a product or service or facilities.
  • Evaluate information to repair, maintain, or modify a product, service, or facility; and refine or improve or modify systems, products or services or facilities of a department or function.
  • Possess skills to engineer, repair, enhance and modify a product, service, system, or facility.
  • Take action to put into use the product, service, or system.
  • Oversee and direct others in completion of a task or assignment.
  • Render advice and provide expertise or judgment based on the product or service or system or facility being maintained, repaired, modified, developed, studied, analyzed, or reviewed.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • 4-6 years general maintenance experience
  • Personal computer skills and data entry; general maintenance skills, including knowledge using hand tools and electronic equipment, and time accounting estimating.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
