DIRECTOR - MIXOLOGY

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Director – Mixology is to oversee the training, creation, and execution of the beverage programs at all property managed outlets.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all beverage functions including mixing of drinks and the operation of all bar equipment.
  • Routinely updates outlet menus and creates specialty offerings for each.
  • Represent the company in public relations and media opportunities.
  • Meet with representatives of beverage brands and convey property positioning.
  • Attend industry events, ensuring a company presence at relevant occasions.
  • Function as a liaison between management and bar staff to ensure operational success.
  • Conduct routine menu testing with bar staff to maintain cocktail preparation consistency.
  • Establish guidelines and training materials for bar staff at all property managed outlets.
  • Conduct health code checks to ensure compliance with all Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) requirements at bar outlets.
  • Ensures Point of Sale (POS) system is routinely updated and reflects accurate menu offerings per outlet.
  • Collaborate with management to set and maintain standards for par levels, inventory procedures, bar layout, and prep lists utilizing the Beverage Inventory Management software contracted with the property.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with other internal departments to ensure operational efficiencies with all equipment and hardware within the outlet.
  • Provide accurate directions and information for guest inquiries and is knowledgeable about Las Vegas restaurants and entertainment as well as all aspects of The Venetian Resort; to include services, features, attractions, promotions, and special events.
  • Attend all required training sessions.
  • Consistently maintains a professional, well-groomed appearance, posture, and hygiene in accordance with company standards and the theme of the venue. Fashion and style to stay current and in line with current fashion standards and trends as deemed by management.
  • Ensures company appearance guidelines are being followed at all property managed outlets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management in accordance with departmental and/or company policies and procedures.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Health card, TAM card, Gaming registration, Non-gaming card and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 7 years high volume experience as a mixologist.
  • Experience in a high-end hotel casino or ultra-lounge environment preferred.
  • Expertise in the cocktail industry and knowledge of current bar trends.
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, champagne, and mixed cocktails.
  • Experience in creating and facilitating a training program for bartenders and bar assistants required.
  • Experience in creating innovative bar menus as part of a company beverage program required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail while meeting business demands.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend, and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
