HOST - POKER

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Host – Poker is to market and promote The Venetian Poker Room, and to be a liaison between our patrons and management. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Act as a liaison between patrons and management.
  • Answer guest’s questions on social media in regard to suite rates, current tournaments, upcoming tournaments, cash game promotions, and any other matters related to the poker room.
  • Live report final tables of DeepStack Poker Series on social media sites.
  • Control all aspects of social media including posting, interviewing, and/or recording video messages (not scripted) for poker.
  • Offer unmatched service to all guests, in accordance with The Venetian Resort and departmental standards.
  • Be knowledgeable about all aspects of The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino services, features, attractions, promotions, and special events to be able to respond accurately to guest inquiries.
  • Post daily live updates (not scripted) on social media to The Venetian Poker Room.
  • Drive recognition of in-room promotions and events to our guests through social media.
  • Bring player concerns and challenges to management’s attention.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness Card, Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • At least 1-year of casino experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with a major four- or five-star resort preferred.
  • Must be able to perform basic math and typing skills.
  • Must possess basic computer and smart phone skills.
  • Must possess working knowledge of major social media sites.
  • Must be able to address stressful situations with our guests with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
