HOUSEKEEPER

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Housekeeper is to clean and service assigned guest suites to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness & guest service.  The Housekeeper is also responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies & handling guest requests or complaints.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Cleans guest suites by category priority, including: bathrooms, showers, tubs, sleeping, and general suite areas following all Company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Completes required suite cleaning credits daily. 
  • Keeps housekeeping cart clean at all times and well-stocked with clean linen and supplies. 
  • Ensures linen is clean and up to standards by following the reject linen process. 
  • Removes soil, dirt, soap build-up and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain and floor.
  • Replenishes all paper products such as facial tissue, toilet tissue and/or bathroom amenities in correct amounts and locations.
  • Monitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Replaces soiled bed sheets and turns down beds; sets radio to designated station and volume; refreshes ice bucket, tray and glasses; closes drapes and shutters, sets lighting and thermostat to designated levels; removes room service trays/tables/items from suite to elevator service landing.
  • Safely uses cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with OSHA regulations and Company and departmental policies, including the use of personal protective equipment and safety practices.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Completes tasks with proper use of equipment, tools or systems related to performance of assigned duties. 
  • Transports cart with cleaning supplies, amenities and linens to assigned guest suite and positions securely, always blocking entrance to suite.
  • Provides unmatched service to guests at all times.
  • Provides accurate directions and information for guest inquiries and is knowledgeable about the property its services, features, attractions, promotions and special events.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • Six (6) months of related experience in housekeeping, professional cleaning, and/or exposure to the hospitality industry, preferred. 
  • Must be available for performing turndown service for evenings as needed. 
  • Complete and record tasks using both electronic and paper tracking.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Push/Pull loaded housekeeping cart with force of up to 37 ft./lbs.
  • Lift up to 44 pounds.
  • Carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent and prolonged walking, kneeling, squatting, stooping, crouching, and bending.
  • Bend more than 5 times per minute in an 8 hour work day.
  • Use and handle chemical cleaners in accordance with safety standards.
  • Move furniture and make beds, including sofa beds.
  • Clean low surfaces, such as bathtubs and baseboards.
  • Walk to various areas of the property to access and clean guest suites, including climbing stairs.
  • Operate a commercial vacuum.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
