INVESTIGATOR - SECURITY

Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Investigator – Security is to conduct investigations and follow-up on crime reports, stolen property, prospective team members and others in accordance with instructions from the investigation manager or others of higher authority.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety–related position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Investigates all room burglaries, thefts, and room losses that occur within the hotel.
- Observes the activities of known and unknown cheaters, thieves, prostitutes and pimps in an effort to curtail their activities and being prepared to take appropriate enforcement action.
- Familiar with and assists in the enforcement of hotel and department policies and procedures, regulation 6, federal, state and local laws and pertinent sections of company labor contracts.
- Prepares written reports to ensure they are factual, legible, timely and admissible in court.
- Recommends and conducts guestroom decoy investigations or covert investigations in other areas of the property.
- Performs background checks on perspective team members, vendors and tenants.
- Conducts criminal background checks on prospective team members.
- Conducts SIIS investigation checks on prospective team members as needed.
- Conducts Gaming Control investigation checks on selective prospective team members.
- Familiarity with all areas of the hotel, as well as team members and their work areas.
- Monitors activities of team members for unauthorized removal of company property and to make certain they are not in unauthorized areas.
- Makes recommendations for and assists with the monitoring of team member activities with surveillance equipment.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Investigates alleged thefts and other related crimes or misconduct occurring within the hotel.
- Investigates the reports of criminal activities involving individuals on hotel property and works with law enforcement to share findings or file appropriate criminal charges.
- Is familiar with and assists in the enforcement of hotel and department policies and procedures, federal, state and local laws and pertinent sections of company labor contracts.
- Ensures written reports are factual, legible, and completed in a timely manner for review.
- Appears in court when subpoenaed regarding any hotel investigation or COR request.
- Conducts integrity guest-room investigations or covert investigations in other areas of the property.
- Performs pre-employment background checks on perspective team members.
- Conducts Gaming Control investigation checks on selective prospective team members.
- Becomes familiar with all areas of the hotel, as well as team members and their work areas.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitors activities of team members for unauthorized removal of company property and to make certain they are not in unauthorized areas.
- Makes recommendations for and assists with the monitoring of team member activities with surveillance equipment.
- Reviews applicable incident reports from all shifts of the security department.
- Maintains and continues to develop extensive contacts in the hotel/casino security field, Gaming Control Board and governmental agencies such as LVMPD.
- Safety is an essential function of this job.
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to always conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years of age.
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
- High school diploma.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver’s license, Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration, Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM) Card, and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
- Demonstrated experience in security investigations in the hotel/casino environment.
- Familiarity with federal, state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to:
- Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
- Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
- Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
- Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel
- Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
- Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
